Coralville Man Sentenced on Federal Charges For Possession of Child Pornography

DAVENPORT, IA – On January 6, 2012, Christopher Alan Shira, age 41, of Coralville, Iowa, was sentenced to 48 months of imprisonment for possessing child pornography, announced United States Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt. United States District Judge John A. Jarvey also ordered Shira to serve a term of supervised release of 5 years following his incarceration, and to pay an assessment of $100 to Crime Victims Fund.

During an online undercover peer-to-peer investigation, law enforcement identified an internet protocol (IP) address associated with the file-sharing of child pornography. Subsequent investigation showed that this IP address came back to Shira. After obtaining a search warrant, law enforcement seized Shira’s computer, which contained child pornography.

This investigation was conducted by the Davenport, Iowa, Police Department, the Coralville, Iowa, Police Department, and the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. The case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
