ESTHERVILLE, Iowa – Kika Greenlee (Fr., St. Louis Park, MN) scored 27 points to help the NIACC women’s basketball team hold off a second half surge by Iowa Lakes in a 60-57 conference win on Wednesday night.
The game was the conference opener for NIACC (9-5 overall, 1-0 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference).
Outside of Greenlee, Jenna Morris (So., Radcliffe, IA) also had a strong day with 16 points. Sadie Pittman (So., Cape Girardeau, MO) scored nine points.
Despite Iowa Lakes shooting 5-of-10 from the three point arc in the first half, the Trojans took a 39-21 lead into halftime. NIACC held Iowa Lakes to 26 percent shooting (7-of-27) in the first half, but Iowa Lakes shot 41.4 percent (12-of-29) in the second half to close the gap.
NIACC will host Southwestern Community College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
