ESTHERVILLE, Iowa – The NIACC men’s basketball team struggled in its first game after winter break, getting routed by Iowa Lakes 99-77 on Wednesday night.
The Lakers had 62 points in the second half, out rebounded NIACC 66-40, and shot 52 percent (41-of-79) in the game. Iowa Lakes also led 37-27 at halftime.
NIACC (8-8 overall, 0-1 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference) shot 34.5 percent (28-of-81) in the game and was only 5-for-28 behind the three-point line.
Darius Wilson (Fr., Dowagiac, MI) and Dejoni Norris (Fr., Waterloo, IA) both had 16 points for NIACC. Chris Throne (So., Lake Mills, IA) recorded 12 points and Nate Brandt (Fr., Burlington, WI) added 11 points.
Seven Lakers scored double figures totals, with Eric Allison and Nick Anderson leading the way with 22 points each. Mark Rangeley (15), Reggie Hearn (14), Wendell Pelts (11), Terrell Newton (10) and Josh Schaben (10) were the other Lakers to reach that mark.
NIACC will return home for a matchup with Southwestern Community College on Saturday starting at 3 p.m.
