24/7 Online Unemployment Filing Available

Des Moines – Iowans can file their unemployment claims 24 hours a day, seven days a week online at www.iowaworkforce.org. Online filing is fast, efficient and secure for claimants. Additionally, individuals can check the status of a claim, file their weekly reporting or reopen an existing claim online.

“Filing online allows individuals to initiate the unemployment process at the time most convenient,” indicated Iowa Workforce Development director Teresa Wahlert. “Iowans are not required to wait for a physical location to be open. Those who have unfortunately lost their jobs want to begin the process as soon as possible, regardless of the time of day.”

When Iowans file a claim online, it’s important to only do so at www.iowaworkforce.org. A number of fraudulent web sites exist.

“These websites prey on those most vulnerable who are simply looking for help,” said Wahlert. “We want every Iowan to know that filing for unemployment is a free service provided by Iowa Workforce Development.”

Although many fraudulent websites may look official, they are in no way authorized or endorsed by the State of Iowa. While these sites may promise prompt response or guaranteed approval, in many cases they may jeopardize or delay weekly benefits, and could expose Iowans to identity theft.

“You will not be automatically approved for unemployment no matter how much you pay,” adds Wahlert. “Procedures are in place to ensure a fair and equal system for both employers and individuals. We try to process all claims in a timely manner, but there is no automatic way to be approved.”

Iowa Workforce Development provides comprehensive services to Iowans throughout the state through a network of 16 regional one-stop centers, 3 satellite offices, over 500 virtual access points and 24/7 online services at www.iowaworkforce.org.

Very convenient so all the deadbeats can re-up. More handouts!

Your ignorance saddens me on many levels. Noone asks to become unemployed, that is why we pay into unemployment insurance, just as we pay into health insurance, no one wants to become sick, but things happen. I had no control over my employers closing their doors or the other employers in the area reducing their workforce & making it even more difficult to compete for the jobs that are available. I am a college educated person with two degrees who is currently receiving unemployment insurance benefits thru no fault of my own. I am working & reporting wages from 2 part time jobs & this plus my benefits is not close to my previous wage.(not to mention I no longer have health care & have gone thru my savings) Yet this makes me a deadbeat? You ma’am are a judgmental woman who is dreadfully out of touch with the reality many people are facing these days. I hope someday you find yourself in a difficult position & have to deal with someone who sees the world as you do!
