Presidential candidate Michele Bachmann visited Mason City on Sunday evening. She held a town hall meeting at the Prime n Wine.
Bachmann (pictured) spoke about the state of health care in America, saying that “we will only get one shot to repeal Obamacare,” explaining that the majority of Americans do not want it. She said that the cost of health care continues to “skyrocket.” She said if elected, repealing Obamacare would be one of her first moves, provided the Congress cooperates.
Bachmann was especially critical of President Barrack Obama, saying he “treats the U.S. like a banana republic” and said she would never apologize for America on foreign soil.
Bachmann says that Iran is working hard to create a nuclear weapon and that Obama has given them the time to do it, while at the same time “not standing with” Israel. She also said the depsite the Iraq war ending this week and American troops leaving that country, it “can’t stand on its own right now.”
She says that the 3 billion or so dollars the U.S gives Israel every year is “critical” when asked by an audience member why the U.S. gives so much aid to foreign countries.
Bachmann, a Minnesota Representative in Congress, talked a little about her 5 children and the 23 children her and her husband of 30 years, Marcus, have adopted. She said she is totally against abortion and said life begins at conception.
She also said she would build a fence between Mexico and the U.S. and does not want amnesty for persons in the country illegally.

People that speak of God, gay, and abomination in one sentence are absent from reality. The truth is, (yawn) and this has been well established, that true gay is not something a person chooses. One’s sexual orientation towards a man or a woman is a deep seated biologically implanted drive. One could argue that God MADE GAYS. If Dick Cheney’s daughter wasn’t gay, and many other Christian Conservative children brought up with every moral Christian lesson instilled on them weren’t gay…I may believe the argument that gay is a choice, and an immoral, sin-against-God choice at that. In some choices, gay is a choice, but in most…it is not. We should wake up, face the gay music and stop discriminating and hurting these people. They have rights to exist, fall in love, and commit to each other civilly and be recognized like anyone else. Religious recognition is up to the individual religion, and should have no bearing on any matter concerning government. Just the tidbits in this article kind of make me want to support MB, however if she is against gay marriage, she obviously isn’t the right one. No, I am not gay, I just don’t think it makes a difference. If you don’t like gay marriage, don’t have one. Let the gays be as miserable as the rest of us. Besides, it doesn’t effect you one bit if Bob and John get married. It doesn’t change your marriage. So leave them alone and let them have the same financial and insurance benefits as everyone else.
