MASON CITY – At approximately 8:15 AM this morning, the Mason City Police Department and Fire Department were dispatched to a four vehicle accident at the intersection of 19th Street SW and S. Eisenhower Ave.

The driver of the silver Grand Prix, who is an employee of the Soy Energy LLC said, “People never slow down here, that’s why I put my blinkers on way back there. The van was stopped behind me, then I heard tires screeching. I started to take off, but got hit. The blue car is the one that caused all of this. There was another vehicle, another AEA van.” She looked around for it and asked, “Where did it go?”

A silver Grand Prix, an AEA van and navy blue Sentra were at the scene. No information on damage to the unidentified vehicle.

The female driver of the Sentra account of the incident was, “We were just going along and he suddenly hit the brakes. I couldn’t see anyone ahead of him because it was a truck, a big truck. All I remember is that it had bull balls hanging on the back. He got out of the truck, took, what look to me, like a quick glance of the damage and left.”

Her mom, and owner of the Sentra, said, “I don’t know why he’d leave like that, maybe he didn’t have insurance. He didn’t even wait to see if everybody was okay. My daughter is okay, a little sore and shaken up. Her hand hurts and her legs scratched up, but otherwise okay. Just lucky nobody was hurt bad.”

The AEA van had damage done to the back bumper, as well as the Grand Prix. There was much damage to the front of the Sentra.

A witness reported, “The truck was in between the AEA van and the Sentra.”

Anyone who may have any information as to the driver of the pick-up, please call the Mason City Police Department.

Also on scene was the Iowa State Patrol.
