iowa-state-patrol-logo-doorMASON CITY – An Iowa State Trooper was dispatched to look for ties and debris in the road Friday and ended up running over one and damaging his Crown Victoria Interceptor.

Iowa State Trooper Brian Sinnwell was dispatched Friday night around 9:15 p.m. “to look for tire debris on the highway when he struck a full tractor tire that was laying in the middle of the inside lane of traffic. The tractor tire came to rest in the north ditch. Damage to the vehicle was to the front bumper passenger side front and rear doors,” according to an Iowa State Patrol crash report.

Sinnwell, 28, was not injured.

The incident took place on west bound Highway 18 about four-tenths of a mile east of U.S. Highway 65.

About $3,500 in damage was done to the squad car.
