NIACC history instructor arrested on harassment charge

MASON CITY – Shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 16th, members of the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department received a report of harassing messages.

Upon investigation, Jeffrey Pilz, age 56 of Plymouth, Iowa was arrested and transported to Cerro Gordo County jail on one simple misdemeanor count of harassment in the 3rd degree. Pilz posted a $300 cash or surety bond and was released pending further court proceedings.

Harassment in the 3rd degree is a simple misdemeanor and carries a minimum fine of $50 dollars not to exceed $500 dollars or up to 30 days in jail upon conviction in Iowa.

Dr. Jeffrey Pilz is listed as a full time social sciences history instructor at NIACC, teaching 5 history classes this fall semester.
