The north portion of the intersection at South Carolina Avenue and 19th Street SE is scheduled to be open on Friday, October 21.
Mid-Continent Contracting has finished placing storm sewer pipe in the south right-of-way of 19th Street SE between South Kentucky Avenue and South Virginia Avenue. The placement of storm sewer structures west of Mason Creek will continue this week.
Pavement has been placed north of 19th Street SE from South Kentucky Avenue to South Virginia Avenue to accommodate the street widening. Surface grading and preparation for the widening on the south side of 19th Street SE is expected to begin this week. Heartland Asphalt will be in the area this week surface grading for the bike trail north of 19th Street SE.
The box culvert over Mason Creek has been completed and the area around the new culvert has been backfilled. The placement of rip-rap on the north and south sides of the new culvert will continue this week.
Alliant Energy will be in the area this week continuing the electrical work along 19th Street SE. Several overhead lines are being moved to accommodate the street widening.
Mediacom has finished splicing lines and installing underground service drops to individual residences.
City sanitation and recycling services will continue throughout the duration of the project. Residents are asked to place their garbage and recycling in the alley at the back of the property and for those who do not have alley access to place theirs at the nearest corner for pickup.
