High wind advisory in affect for North Iowa

A high wind advisory is in affect for the North Iowa Area. According to the National Weather Service:

STRONG NORTHWEST WINDS WILL PERSIST THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON.

A COLD FRONT IS MOVING THROUGH IOWA TODAY. STRONG NORTHWEST WINDS HAVE DEVELOPED IN ITS WAKE AND WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE AFTERNOON HOURS. THE STRONGEST WINDS WILL OCCUR OVER THE NORTHEAST WHERE WIND GUSTS WILL REACH 55 MPH AT TIMES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A WIND ADVISORY MEANS THAT SUSTAINED WINDS OF 30 MPH OR HIGHER. OR GUSTS OVER 45 MPH ARE EXPECTED. WINDS THIS STRONG CAN MAKE DRIVING DIFFICULT…ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES.
USE EXTRA CAUTION. IN ADDITION…TAKE ACTION TO SECURE LIGHTWEIGHT OUTDOOR OBJECTS.

Also this afternoon it was reported that power was out for awhile on the north side of Mason City and that numerous tree branches were down around the city.|
