Masqueraders lucky to be able to express themselves (by Peter Children)

(Op-ed by Peter Children)

I am acutely aware that there are either a loosely knit group or one person masquerading as three or four different people who intensely dislike every word I write. It is not hard to figure that out, in fact I find it amusing and I encourage you to keep it up. In the great preponderance of life there are most always two sides, yours and mine.

One evening several years ago, Clarence Thomas the Supreme Court Justice spoke at a gathering at the Hanford Inn, I was there to hear him speak. I was not a guest, I was working in the kitchen and slipped out to listen to him speak. Someone in the audience asked him; “What was the shortest argument you ever heard before the bench?” He replied; “An attorney stood before the court and said, I know I am right because he is wrong.” That pretty much sums up how I feel about this small group of dissenters who attack every word regardless of what it might be.

Stop for only a moment and think how lucky we all are that we can do this….express ourselves in the manner we do. In many countries across the world we could be in trouble by openly criticizing, openly telling the truth and expressing our feelings in such a public manner. We are blessed whether we are right or wrong, to live in this country where a young man took the chance to create this site, to swim against the tide to provide this platform of democratic debate.

Having said that, I would think you would be tired and downhearted by continually being wrong…but please don’t ever stop trying.
