From the City of Mason City:
Week beginning Monday, September 26
The north portion of the intersection at 19th Street SE and South Pennsylvania Avenue has been opened. The north portion of the intersection of 19th Street SE and South Massachusetts Avenue is currently closed but is expected to be reopened later this week.
Mid-Continent Contracting will continue placing storm sewer pipe in the right-of-way of 19th Street SE between South Rhode Island Court and South Virginia Avenue. Excavation and surface grading has started for the bike trail north of 19th Street SE and additional surface preparation will continue this week.
Work will continue on the box culvert over Mason Creek. Forming of the culverts top deck is nearly complete and the placement of the culverts top deck is expected to be completed this week.
Alliant Energy will be in the area this week continuing the electrical work along 19th Street SE. Several overhead lines are being moved to accommodate the street widening.
The Mediacom main line and service pedestals have all been installed. Mediacom workers will continue splicing lines and installing underground service drops to individual residences.
City sanitation and recycling services will continue throughout the duration of the project. Residents are asked to place their garbage and recycling in the alley at the back of the property and for those who do not have alley access to place theirs at the nearest corner for pickup. If pick up is missed please call the Sanitation Department at (641) 421-3691.
