Child endangerment charge dropped in plea bargain

On January 15th, 2011 Mason City Police arrested Terri Lynn Stewart, age 42, for OWI and child endangerment on 4th Street SW following a traffic stop.

According to online court records Terri Stewart entered a voluntary negotiated guilty plea to the OWI a serious misdemeanor and the higher charge of child endangerment an aggravated misdemeanor was dismissed by the court.

Stewart was sentenced in Cerro Gordo County District Court by Judge Carlynn Grupp on September 14th, 2011 to serve 3 days of in home monitoring, with a 362 day suspended prison sentence. Judge Grupp also sentenced Stewart to one year probation with the Iowa Department of Corrections, and suspended $625 dollars of Stewart’s $1250 dollar fine. Stewart must also pay a $218.75 surcharge on the fine, and $210 in court costs and lawyer fees to the court to cover the public defender.

On Tuesday, September 27th, Terri Stewart reported to the Cerro Gordo County Law Enforcement Complex to start her three days of home monitoring to last until September 30th.
