After nine years with the City, Volunteer Service Coordinator Mary Zishka has announced her retirement.
The program was started in 2002 with a mission to identify city or community projects that could be accomplished by volunteers. The program was also designed to provide an opportunity for City staff to connect with citizens and organizations wishing to volunteer with a variety of projects in the City parks, the waterways and the rights-of-way.
City Administrator Brent Trout states, “Mary has embraced this program, reaching well above and beyond the initial expectations. Since its inception, the program has facilitated over 45,000 volunteer hours – donated to the City of Mason City by volunteers with the intent to help make Mason City a better place to live. Many new volunteer projects have been added due to Mary’s vision of finding ways to make Mason City ‘Sparkle’.”
An open house reception is scheduled for Thursday, September 29, 2011 from 1-3 p.m. in Conference Room A (2nd Floor) at City Hall.
