Humane Society to host 12th annual Fall Festival

The Humane Society of North Iowa will host its 12th Annual Fall Festival Fundraiser on Sunday, September 25th at the National Guard Armory in Mason City. The event is open to the public and will take place from noon to 4:00 pm.

The Fall Festival Fundraiser will feature activities such as a silent auction, a bounce house for kids, horse rides, games, bake sale, concession stand, and other fun activities. Adoptable animals from the shelter will also be at the event.

The featured guest speaker will be Mary LaHay, founder of the organization Iowa Voters for Companion Animals. Mary will give two presentations during the event with the topic of puppy mills in that state of Iowa and why people should rescue their family pet instead of purchase them.

The event will also feature Katie McColloch and her champion disc dog Riley, a German Shepherd she adopted from the Humane Society of North Iowa. Katie and Riley will be performing disc dog demonstrations outside during the Fall Festival event.

The Fall Festival is being held at the National Guard Armory, located at 1160 19th Street SW, in Mason City. There is no admission charge for the event and all activities are free with the exception of a minimal fee for some of the children’s activities.

“The Fall Festival fundraiser is an important annual event.” said Humane Society Executive Director Sybil Soukup, “All proceeds from this event goes towards the operation of our animal shelter and allows us to continue to provide quality care to the animals that rely on us. Plus, it’s just a fun event and is an easy way to support your local Humane Society.”

For everyone’s safe enjoyment, the public is asked to please leave your family pet at home.
