Week beginning Monday, September 19
Beginning this week, 19th Street SE between South Rhode Island Court and Pine Hill Court is scheduled to be open. Once this is open, 19th Street SE between Pine Hill Court and South Virginia Avenue will be closed for additional storm sewer installation and street reconstruction. During this period, South Rhode Island Court and Pine Hill Court will be accessible off 19th Street SE from South Kentucky Avenue.
Mid-Continent Contracting will continue placing storm sewer pipe in the south right-of-way of 19th Street SE between South Rhode Island Court and South Virginia Avenue. The north portion of the intersection of 19th Street SE and South Pennsylvania Avenue is scheduled to be open at the beginning of this week. Once this is open, the north portion of the intersection of 19th Street SE and South Massachusetts Avenue will be closed. Excavation and surface grading will begin in the north portion of 19th Street SE between South Carolina Avenue and South Massachusetts Avenue.
Work will continue on the box culvert over Mason Creek. Additional forming and the placement of the culvert top deck will take place this week.
Alliant Energy will be in the area this week continuing the electrical work along 19th Street SE. Several overhead lines are being moved to accommodate the street widening.
Mediacom main line and service pedestals have all been installed. Mediacom workers will continue splicing lines and installing underground service drops to individual residences.
City sanitation and recycling services will continue throughout the duration of the project. Residents are asked to place their garbage and recycling in the alley at the back of the property and for those who do not have alley access to place theirs at the nearest corner for pickup. If pick up is missed please call the Sanitation Department at (641) 421-3691.
