Shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday morning Mason City Police responded to a report of a vehicle hitting a light pole in the 700 block of 12th Street NE. Upon hitting the light pole the vehicle had fled the scene of the accident.
Law enforcement located the damaged vehicle with a flat tire two blocks away in the driveway of a residence in the 1400 block of Virginia Ave North. Upon further investigation officers took Jordan Blunt age 19 of 1427 Virginia Ave N, Mason City into custody and charged him with OWI 1st offense and striking fixtures upon highway.
Blunt was booked into the Cerro Gordo County jail on the OWI charge around 3:30am and has since been released pending further court proceedings.
