North Iowa Man Receives Felony Charges While in County Jail

Law Enforcement did not have far to go when charging Donald Pittman with three felony counts of conspiracy to commit forgery last Thursday. Donald Pittman has been in the Cerro Gordo County Jail since August 5th serving a 120 day sentence on one conviction of domestic abuse and three convictions for assault stemming from a Dec 28th, 2010 incident. In his latest felony charges Clear Lake Police issued a complaint stemming from alleged incidents on March 3rd, 4th, and 6th of this year. Pittman had an initial appearance on Thursday and is held on $15,000 bond pending further court proceedings.

Court records show Donald Pittman is currently on probation with the Iowa Department of Corrections. He was placed on probation following a January 2011 negotiated voluntary guilty plea to felony 2nd degree theft by check, as part of that plea bargain a felony forgery charge was dropped. Court records show he owes the victim of that crime $5317.71 an additional $450.00 in court fees. As part of his sentencing he was also given a 5 year suspended prison sentence that could be imposed should he commit more crimes while on probation. If convicted on all three of the latest felony counts Pittman could face up to 15 years in prison and $22,500 in court fines.
