Target awards $500 for books to Hoover Elementary in Mason City

Barbara Wells, Principal at Hoover Elementary, recently stated, “It was a joy this summer to give Tony Florea, Manager at the Super Target Store, a tour of our building and share our vision for expanding our library book selections to include a greater variety of genre, especially non-fiction.”

Later in the summer Wells was notified that Target had selected Hoover as the recipient of a $500.00 Books for Schools Award for the purchase of library books. Immediately upon notification, teacher librarian Courtney Rogne and paraprofessional Janelle Bothwell began selecting books on a variety of reading levels to add to the school library collection, including read-aloud books for pre-school students. As a result of this award, all Hoover students will have additional library books to read and enjoy.

On behalf of the Mason City Community School District and all Hoover staff, students and families, thank you for Target’s generosity in giving students the opportunity to learn from, and enjoy, all of the wonderful information, adventures, and stories found within the pages of many new books!
