Redemption Center holds Grand Opening

A new redemption center had it’s Grand Opening on Monday, September 5th. Story by Jody Spear.|A new redemption center had it’s Grand Opening on Monday, September 5th.

Jeff Germundson, owner of the new Redemption Center at 1013 N. Federal, will take returns on Iowa bottles and cans. This is the former location of Smitty’s Used Cars.

Germundson will also sell nightcrawlers. “Minnows are just a waste of money, people around here are nightcrawler fishermen,” says Jeff.

“I also work at Kraft part time. At least until this business takes off. When you start a new business like this, you have to wait quite a while before you see the profits,” Jeff explained.

The Redemption Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.

“For my first day, I was swamped about a half hour ago. It’s nice, sometimes you’re really busy, but then you get some slow time, where you catch up on other things that need to be done.”

“Clean out those garages, cars and back rooms and bring your recyclable cans and bottles in, or pick up some nightcrawlers and go fishing,” Jeff said.
