North Iowa Connect to meet with Vi-Cor’s Holt for “Bigwig Lunch Talk”

North Iowa Connect will be hosting a “Bigwig Lunch Talk” on September 6th at noon at Conference Room #1 at the Mercy West Campus.

North Iowa Connect is a young person’s group that was put together and is sponsored by the North Iowa Corridor EDC. (read related story) The Corridor receives thousands of dollars a year in public funding, much of that directly from the City of Mason City.

The featured speaker at the luncheon will be Vi-Cor’s President, Mark Holt. Vi-Cor is currently working with the City of Mason City regarding a dispute with residents in Mason City in the Briarstone neighborhood regarding smell issues that emanate from their processing plant on South Benjamin Avenue. Residents have also complained about smell issues from Vi-Cor’s plant on South Carolina Avenue.

Some Mason City officials are planning to attend this Bigwig Lunch Talk. Mayor Eric Bookmeyer will be attending, as will City Council candidate Alex Kuhn.

Niether Bookmeyer nor Kuhn responded to emails asking whether they would question Holt on how his company is handling the smell issues.
