MASON CITY – The North Iowa Youth Center will be opening Tuesday evening beginning at 5 p.m. at its brand new location at 138 5th Street SW.
The opening day festivities start at 5 p.m. and end at 8 p.m. There is no cost to attend and the event is open to children and teens up to 15 years of age. Little Caesars is donating pizza until it is gone.
After lots of work and attention to detail, the new headquarters is ready to serve kids and teens, Director Regan Banks said. “Perseverance. We fought and struggled for 13 years to get to this point.”
The new facility is totally remodeled, with brand new colorful paint, artwork, restrooms, computers and games.
The new Youth Center also features computers, a pool table, carpet pool, foosball, dart game, 52″ TV with a Wii, Playstation 2, air hockey and more.
Parents can now sign thier children up for after school programs, which start September 26th. The NIYC building is also be available for rent for parties and events.
The NIYC was founded in 1998 by Regan Banks, in conjunction with the Mason City YMCA. The NIYC is renting its new building on a 5 year contract from Mason City Honda, who Banks calls a “golden angel sponsor.”
