Cerro Gordo County Accepting Applications for Volunteer Boards

MASON CITY, IOWA – Cerro Gordo County is accepting applications for positions on volunteer boards and commissions appointed by the Board of Supervisors.
The Board of Supervisors policy requires individuals who are interested in serving on a board, commission, committee, or council of the county to complete an application for appointment.

The policy was established in an effort to comply with state law adopted in 2009 requiring that governmental entities make appointments using a fair and unbiased process. This law change also requires that appointed boards and commissions are gender balanced beginning in 2012.

The supervisors are seeking applicants who are interested in being appointed to the Commission on Veterans Affairs and Board of Adjustment. The appointees terms will begin July 1, 2011.

In addition to gender balance, other state laws may apply that limit appointments based on residency or occupation.

Applications and descriptions of the powers and duties of the boards and commissions may be obtained from the county’s website ñ www.co.cerro-gordo.ia.us, or from the board of supervisors’ office at the courthouse.|
