A Minneapolis/St. Paul based pop punk band, Our Life Story used the Rosebowl this past Saturday May 28 to release their newest EP titled “I’d Rather Change Than Stay the Same”.

Along with Our Life Story, local bands Orson Welles, Dog with Meat and Monheim played at Saturday’s show.

Hello Stateside from Ottumwa, IA also played. There was also an acoustic performance by Jordan Arndt and Nehemiah Nelson.

The pop punk band’s influences vary from older bands like New Found Glory and Blink 182 to newer bands like Title Fight and Balance and Composure.

“We like a lot of newer bands and a lot of older bands too, I love Brand New and stuff but I also love Terror and everything in between.” Kyle Flaherty, a guitarist for Our life Story said.

“We try to include the heavier side and the slower prettier side of our music and that’s real important to us.” Flaherty said.

“I think as far as our sound, it ranges anywhere from like Lifetime to newer stuff like Title Fight, Balance and Composure stuff like that.” Billy Mitchell, Drummer of Our Life Story said.

Our Life Story formed in 2009 and one of their first out of state shows was at the Rosebowl.

“Kids seem to like us, it kind of just progressed into a lot more and that’s cool” Brandon Hult, Lead singer of Our Life Story said.

Our Life Story has release two EPs and one Demo. Their first EP entitled Shorelines was released in 2010.

Their newest EP “I’d rather change than stay the same” took four days to record.

“We went out to Chicago and recorded at Drasik Studios with Mark Michalik.” Hult said.

Our Life Story is setting out on a two week Midwest tour that will take them through Ohio, Indiana, Michigan and Iowa.

“It’s just kind of a solo thing we’re doing for the new EP” Hult said.

“We’re just really stoked for the new EP. We’re trying to get it out there the best we can and we hope everybody likes it.” Hult said.|
