The redshirt sophomore saw action in two games last season. He had three carries for 27 yards and a touchdown in 2010.
“James has informed me of his decision to transfer from Iowa State,” Cyclone head coach Paul Rhoads said. “I told him that we respect his decision and wish him a bright future.”
Capello is a native of Lebanon, Pa. who redshirted the 2009 season.
