NIACC to Offer Beginning Guitar Making Class

For anyone who loves music and fine woodworking, North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) will offer Beginning Guitar Making during the month of May. This two credit course will be taught by Gregg Helmich, NIACC Building Trades instructor, and will run May 9 through June 3, Monday through Thursday, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the NIACC campus.

“For anyone, from beginning to advanced guitar players, there’s nothing like making music from an instrument you crafted with your own hands,” said Helmich.

Class participants will have an opportunity to create either a Fender Stratocaster™ or a Telecaster™ style guitar from a wood of their choice. Students will build their own guitar body and shape the headstock. All other components for the guitar are pre-made and must be ordered with Helmich no later than May 4.

To register for the class, call 1-888-GO NIACC. Also, contact Helmich at 1-888-GO NIACC, ext. 4279 to place your guitar parts order or if you have any questions about the class. |
