OSAGE – Governor Branstad, Lt. Governor Reynolds, and Valent BioSciences Corporation were welcomed to Osage’s Cedar River Complex on Monday, April 25th.
Valent BioSciences Corporation (VBC) is a company based out of Libertyville, Illinois. The Corporation is a leader in the research, development, and marketing of products and technologies for agriculture, forestry, public health, and house-hold insecticides according to the company’s website.
The Corporation plans to build a manufacturing facility that will cover 70 acres of land next to A to Z Drying, Inc. in Osage. A to Z Drying has had a long relationship with VBC. The facility which is expected to be at full operation in 2014, will bring 89 jobs to the Osage area.
“I am pleased to announce that Lieutenant Governor Reynolds and I will be on hand in Osage today to welcome Valent BioSciences Corporation to Iowa,” said Branstad. “Valent BioSciences investment in Iowa will provide quality jobs for the people of North Central Iowa. This investment, along with the recent investments by Alltech and Cargill, demonstrates the confidence businesses have in Iowa as we build on a sound fiscal foundation, while reducing the tax and regulatory burden on business.”
“This is precisely why I continue to urge the Legislature to take action and reduce the commercial property tax and the corporate income tax to allow us to continue this momentum in building Iowa’s economy,” Branstad added.
