Note: Finance Committee Meeting
The Finance Committee of the Board of Education will meet at 5:00 p.m. in the Board Secretary’s office to review the financial reports of the district for the month ending March 31, 2011; to review investments made since the previous board meeting; and to review the list of warrants submitted for Board of Education approval.
Regular Meeting of the Board
The regular meeting of the Board of Education will convene at 5:30 p.m. in the Board Room of the School Administration Building.

110. Mason City Youth Task Force Report (Board Goals, 1, 2, 4, 5)
Mary Schissel, Mason City Youth Task Force Director, will provide the Board with a report on the organizations’ activities and efforts on behalf of the youth of our community.
111. Student and Staff Recognition (Board Goals, 1, 2, 3, 5)
Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services Hal Minear will provide information regarding recent accomplishments of students and staff members.
112. Board Policy Updates ñ Student Health Services ñ First Reading (Board Goal 4)
Included as BEM Number 58 are board policies from Series 500 related to student health services for first reading.

ACTION ITEMS
113. Personnel Report (Board Goals 2, 4)
Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services Hal Minear will review the personnel changes listed in BEM Number 59. Approval is recommended.
114. Story Construction ñ Owners Rep ñ Agreement (Board Goals 1, 4, 5)
Representatives from Story Construction will present information and a proposed agreement to extend services as the owner’s representative to the Board for the district’s multiple construction projects. Approval is recommended.
115. Contract of Educational Services for Automotive Service Technology Program ñ NIACC (Board Goals 3, 4, 5)
Included as BEM Number 60 is a contract between North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) and Mason City Community School District for educational services for the Automotive Service Technology Program. Approval is recommended.
116. Agreement of Service ñ Timberline Billing Service – Medicaid Reimbursement Claims (Board Goals 1, 4)
Included as BEM Number 61 is an agreement of service between Timberline Billing Service and Mason City Community School District to continue processing district claims for Medicaid reimbursement. Approval is recommended.
117. Drive Tek Contract (Board Goals 2, 4)
BEM Number 62 includes a copy of a one-year contract extension with Drive Tek, the private firm that provides drivers education instruction. The student fee for drivers’ education will remain at $340 for the 2011-2012 school year. Approval of this contract is recommended.
118. Cooperative Sponsorship of an Activity (Board Goals 1, 2, 4)
Included as BEM Number 63 is an application for whole grade or cooperative sponsorship of an activity with Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock Community School District for girls bowling for the 2011-2012 school year. Approval is recommended.
119. Student Teaching Agreement ñ Buena Vista University (Board Goals 1, 2, 3, 4)
BEM Number 64 includes a copy of the contract from Buena Vista University for student teaching. Approval of this contract for 2011-2012 is recommended.
120. Student Teaching Agreement ñ University of Northern Iowa (Board Goals 1, 2, 3, 4)
BEM Number 65 includes a copy of the contract from University of Northern Iowa for student teaching. Approval of this contract for 2011-2012 is recommended.
121. Student Teaching Agreement ñ Dordt College (Board Goals 1, 2, 3, 4)
BEM Number 66 includes a copy of the contract from Dordt College for student teaching. Approval of this contract for 2011-2012 is recommended.
122. Student Driver School Permits (Board Goals 1, 2, 3, 4)
BEM Number 67 is a list of students requesting a School License from the Department of Transportation. Approval is recommended.
123. Open Enrollment 2011-2012 (Board Goals 1, 2, 4)
BEM Number 68 is a summary of the applications for open enrollment for the 2011-2012 school year. Approval is recommended.
124. Approval Set of Sale of School Infrastructure Sales, Services and Use Tax Revenue Bonds (Board Goals 4)
Included as BEM Number 69 are documents and a resolution fixing the date of sale, and approving electronic bidding procedures for sale of not to exceed $15,000,000 School Infrastructure Sales, Services and Use Tax Revenue Bonds, Series 2011, pursuant to Iowa Code Chapter 21 and the local rules of the school district.
125. Budget/Planning for 2011-2012 (Board Goals 1, 2, 4, 5)
Superintendent Anita Micich will present a report to the Board regarding staffing for 2011-2012 school year and recommended staffing reductions. Approval is recommended.

126. Closed Session ñ Collective Bargaining Strategy (Board Goal 4)
A closed session will be held to discuss negotiation strategy. The motion to go into closed session should be stated as follows:
“I move that we hold a closed session to conduct a strategy meeting of a public employer concerning employees covered by a collective bargaining agreement as provided in Section 20.17(d) of the Code.”
