COLUMBIA, Mo. ñ The University of Northern Iowa men’s and women’s track & field teams recorded four top-five finishes in limited action on Friday afternoon at the Tom Botts Invitational hosted by Missouri.
Junior Justin Romero took first place in the shot put with an outdoor personal-best throw of 56-00.50 (17.08m). Romero also took over fifth-place all-time at UNI in the shot put with that mark. Freshman Nic Toben used an outdoor personal-best throw of 51-11.00 (15.82m) to place fifth.
Sophomore Scotti Schon claimed second place in the women’s 3,000m steeplechase, crossing the line in 11:29.14.
In the men’s discus, UNI sophomore Jordan Williams threw 163-05 (49.81m) for fifth place. Tanner Hurt placed eighth with a toss of 152-03 (46.42m).
The Tom Botts Invitational will conclude tomorrow.
