The Iowa Senate made two more attempts this week to pay the state’s bills for constitutionally required legal services. Hundreds of Iowansócourt-appointed lawyers, court reporters, investigators, interpreters and their employeesóhave not been paid for services already provided to the state of Iowa. This week the House and Senate came to a compromise that, while not ideal, would provide for payment for these people. The bill now awaits the Governor’s signature.
