A bridge replacement contract was awarded to Taylor Construction. The bridge is on S66 south of Dougherty. The bid was $404,854.61. The vote was 3-0.
Discussion on resurfacing part of county road B-20 was held. Right now, the county is trying to get by until next summer to do most of that work but there is not yet a timetable for that project which would replace a six-mile stretch at a cost of around $3 million.
The Supervisors authorized a Byrne-Justice Assistance Grant Program with a 3-0 vote after hearing Sheriff Kevin Pals describe it.
A large part of the meeting centered on the possibility of selling some county land to Croell Redi-Mix Inc. of Mason City. The company is currently located on Massachussetts Ave. not far from downtown Mason City. The land they want to purchase is on Lark Avenue across from the Sheriff’s office. They made on offer of $7,000 per acre for the 20 acres they want to buy. a public hearing on the matter was set for April 19th.
