The vote was 3-2 vote against the change. Council members Max Weaver and Jeff Marsters voted “yes.” Don Nelson was not at the meeting. It would have faced one more vote to officially pass.
In effect, the Mayor will retain his privilege of selecting applicants for the commission without input from the commission itself. His choices would then need to be O.K.’d by the commission, however, for new applicants. Then the new applicants would have to be O.K.’d by the City Council.|
