An update on the North Iowa Diversity Appreciation Team (NIDAT) was presented to the City Council and the public by Dan Gipinski, a co-chair of the organization.
Gipinski says that NIDAT has been busy with an art contest and a writing contest, both featuring the work of students in grades K-12. Gipinski said there have been about 300-400 applicants. An Awards presentation will be help at Music Man Square on March 3.
NIDAT has also recently completed a resource directory on its website, which is located at NorthIowaDiversity.org. The resource directory is a listing of agencies and locations people can use as a reference. The directory is in both English and Spanish.
Gipinski says NIDAT has seen growing attendance at its Lunch in the Park event, held in the summer. According to Gipinski, over 3000 people attended the event in 2010, which was held in downtown Mason City near City Hall.
Gipinski invited the public to the NIDAT meetings, held the second Wednesday of every month at City Hall at 4 PM, and thanked the community for its support.
