MacNider Art Museum’s Films in February, Movies in March Continues with Departures

The MacNider Art Museum’s 2011 Winter Film Series, Films in February, Movies in March, continues Saturday, February 19th, at 2:00 p.m. with Departures. This is the third installment in the 2011 Film Series. Admission is free and open to the public. Popcorn will be provided.

Academy Award® Winner for Best Foreign Language Film of the year (2008), Departures is a delightful and sensitive journey into the heartland of Japan and an astonishingly beautiful look at a sacred part of Japan’s cultural heritage. The story follows a newly unemployed cellist who takes a job preparing the dead for funerals. A story of love, of discovery, of revelation and of the transcending human spirit, Departures will linger in your heart and mind long after viewing. This film is in Japanese with English subtitles. Sponsored by a Friend of the MacNider Art Museum’s Foreign and Independent Film Series.

Departures is a 2008 feature film. It is rated PG-13 and is 130 minutes long.
