City of Mason City seeking applicants for boards and commissions

The Human Rights Commission is charged with ensuring equal opportunity for all persons in the areas of employment, housing, financial practices, and public
accommodations. The Commission was established to receive, investigate, and pass upon complaints alleging unfair or discriminatory practices. It also recommends appropriate remedies where discrimination is found to exist. The term for serving on this commission is three years. Regular meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month at 12:00 noon at City Hall. Three positions are vacant on this commission.

The Environmental Stewardship Advisory Commission assists the City Council and the residents of Mason City in shaping perspectives and creating policies that protect, restore and further enhance the environment of Mason City for present and future generations. The term for serving on this commission is three years. Meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 5:00 p.m. at City Hall. There is one open position on
this commission.

Mason City residents interested in serving on either of these commissions or any board or commission may submit an application one of three ways:
*Complete an electronic application on the City’s website by clicking on the Your Government tab at www.masoncity.net, and selecting the Boards and Commissions subpage (actual link http://www.masoncity.net/forms.aspx?id=35).

*Download a printable application located on the same page of the City’s website and submit it to the City Clerk’s office located on the first floor of City Hall.

*Stop by City Hall and complete an application. The forms are available at the City Clerk’s office located on the first floor.
