Hot-mix asphalt resurfacing on north- and southbound U.S. 218 between Mitchell Avenue and Williston Avenue/18th Street in Waterloo will require alternating nighttime lane closures from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday nights, and from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday nights through Friday mornings beginning Monday, May 2, until mid-July, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.

The Greater Mason City Board of Realtors announced today that this years annual open house weekend will be May 14th and 15th.

Art Walk:More than 30 Midwest artists, including several local artists, will display and sell their works during Art Walk, Waverly’s 11th annual juried fine arts and crafts show. The event will be held Saturday, May 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Kohlmann Park, located in downtown Waverly, along the Cedar River. Art medias range from painting, ceramics, metal sculpture, photography, jewelry, and more. In addition to the artists, the event will also feature live music by Irish Punk band, The Langer’s Ball from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the Bruskers from 2-4 p.m. Also, a kids’ activities by the Waverly Creativity Co-op, food vendors, and a musical petting zoo by the Wartburg Community Symphony Association.
