MASON CITY – At about 3:30 AM Saturday morning, Emergency responders were dispatched to 20759 Spruce Avenue for a one vehicle rollover with one fatality and two other persons injured.
According to Iowa State Patrol, John Lybarger, age 33, was killed when the 1997 Dodge pickup he was riding in lost control. The Dodge went into the west ditch, rolled and came to rest on its top.
Two others where in the vehicle at the time, a female, Minda Jones, age 32 and Jason Genzler, age 33.
Jones was taken to Mercy Medical Hospital in Mason City by Lifeflight and Genzler was taken by ambulance.
Seatbelts were not worn by Lybarger or Jones.
Iowa State Patrol was still investigating to determine who was driving at the time of the accident. MCPD also assisted at the scene.

I think u r very smart and u should be an investigator! The driver usually puts there seatbelt on by habbit it is the law. I think ur right about Johnny riding up front and he was the passenger. I think ur also right about Jones riding in the back seat since the truck was an extended cab!

peter: you are assuming that one person was in the rear jump seat, as this was a pickup involved, I would assume that they were all in the same seat. as for drugs or drinking. not everyone does that (however in this case you MAY be right) many times I drive long hours and need to sleep on the side of the road. after hearing more about the people involved maybe the female was driving and kept her belts on while the guys were outside the truck for some reason. and also for some reason they needed to leave in a hurry????? just another idea to think about. sad thing to happen either way
What’s sad about this is the people they stole from just last week won’t be getting their stuff back.
No one stole anything from anybody. Nowhere did it say anything about anyone involved burglarizing or stealing anything from anyone. You should know what you’re saying before you talk shit!
What u said makes no sense. How was the female driving and wearing her seatbelt when the guys were standing outside? Besides the female did not have a seatbelt on in the accident that was stated in the report u jack***!

It really doesn’t matter at this time if any substances were used. What matters is Johnny is dead, and his family and friends will miss him. My heart goes out to his parents and to Jen.

Actually the fact that Johnny id dead matters a lot rather, the driver, Minda will be charged with a crime or not.
It’s very sad that Johnny died, I feel bad for his family and close friends. Minda was one of his very best friends. Minda was not driving that night, Jason Genzler was the driver. Iam praying for everyone involved in this accident. I am also praying for Johnny’s family and friends.

It is very sad that Johnny died, I send all my thoughts and prayers to his family and friends. It’s to bad Minda got severally injured. Jason got minor injuries. Minda was one of Johnny’s very best friends. She was not driving that night. Jason was the driver of the truck, it’s to bad it had to happen this way. What’s perplexing is these same people were pulled over last week for stealing from area farms. What’s perplexing is that this accident happened on the same road that they were pulled over on. Maybe that’s why there is an investigation in place.
U people don’t know what ur talking about, these three people weren’t together the weekend before stealing. Johnny lived in Albert Lea MN and hadn’t been to Mason in a few months! SO, u better know what ur talking about before ur saying shit.

Usually when a accident is under investigation they dont give out most details. Be patient I’m sure more details will come out!

Lifeflight? That is like calling this ite the globe. Just because it was a helo does not mean it was that service. Get you names correct or stop acting like you know the details.
The word “Lifeflight” came right off the “official” Iowa State Patrol Crash Report, so that is the word that we used. If YOU don’t know all the details, maybe you should ask first and then if you have a complaint print it.
Doc’ maybe you need to learn how to spell first before coming on here thinking you know what your talking about!
Sounds to me like the Globe’s trolls want to discredit this story, since they have NOTHING on it. They can try and make the three line accident report into a story, but will have no pictures to show the carnage.
Thanks Sheryl! There are two owls that live at the Sergeants Major Academy where my husband is antntdieg. They are always in the trees in the courtyard and they don’t move around much, so they are pretty easy to capture. The turtle is our pet and we let him loose in the backyard for some exercise. I love photographing animals keep at it and you’ll get some good shots!
