Steckman chosen as 2018 Iowa Child Advocate award recipient

DES MOINES — Representative Sharon Steckman of Mason City was selected as the 2018 Iowa Child Advocate Award recipient today by Prevent Child Abuse Iowa. She was awarded for being a true advocate and strong supporter of preventing child abuse and building support for policies and programs to better protect children and families.

Co- hosted by the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH), Prevent Child Abuse Iowa honored Representative Steckman for her hard work in broadening the definition of child abuse to protect drug endangered children.

Prevent Child Abuse Iowa is a non-profit organization. The award was given out at their annual conference in Des Moines that brings together national and state experts to educate nearly 700 people of ways to prevent child abuse in Iowa before it happens.
