INDIANOLA, IOWA – An Iowa daycare provider is accused of seriously injuring a one-year-old child
On October 31, 2017, the Indianola Police Department and Indianola Fire and Rescue were sent to 1312 Detroit Avenue in Indianola, Iowa on the report of a one-year-old in distress. J.T., a child, was transported to Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines as a result of her injuries.
As a result of an ongoing investigation by the Indianola Police Department, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Iowa Department of Human Services, it was determined that J.T. was seriously injured by 34-year-old Heather Mckesson of Indianola, her day care provider.
On April 5, 2018, McKasson was arrested without incident by the Indianola Police Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations. McKasson is charged with the offenses of Child Endangerment causing Serious Injury (a Class C Felony), Willful Injury causing Serious Injury (a Class C Felony) and Assault causing Serious Injury (a Class D Felony).
McKasson, made her initial appearance in Court and the Court set her bond at 525.000.00 cash only. She posted bond and was released from custody pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for April 16, 2018 at 9:30 AM.
