Charles City police conducted a traffic stop on Wednesday, February 7 at about 9:31 PM in the 100 block of 13th Avenue. As a result of the stop and investigation, the driver of the vehicle, 40-year-old Nicole Schmidt of Charles City was found to be wanted an a warrant connected to a fourth-degree theft charge. She had been wanted on the warrant since last August, records show. Also, Schmidt apparently showed signs of intoxication, leading the officer to charge her with first-offense operating while intoxicated.
Schmidt was jailed and soon released, pending a court date.
