MASON CITY – The No. 13 NIACC wrestling team picked up three falls and topped No. 8 Iowa Lakes in an ICCAC dual meet Friday night in the NIACC gym.
NIACC, which dropped a 34-15 decision to Iowa Lakes in November, gained falls from Mark Gonzales (125), Sedrak Sheppard (197) and Jimsher Sidhu (285) to improve its dual meet record to 2-5.
Gonzales (5-6) pinned Iowa Lakes’ Kevin Saravia in 6 minutes, 53 seconds at 125 pounds.
Sheppard (7-8) stuck the Lakers’ Cayelon Barton in 6:09 and Sidhu (9-5) pinned Montana Fuller in 1:30.
NIACC also picked up wins from Austin Anderly at 141 pounds, Ryan Faught (11-4) by forfeit at 165 pounds and Tavion Askew (1-0) at 174 pounds.
Anderly, who is top-ranked at 141 by Intermat, took a 6-4 decision from the Lakers’ seventh-ranked Anthony Fisher. Anderly improved his 2017-18 record to 8-1.
NIACC returns to action Tuesday at home in a dual meet against the Iowa State Club Team. Match time is set for 7 p.m. in the NIACC gym.
