OBIT: Phyllis Marie Rague, 83, of Charles City

Phyllis Marie Rague, 83, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2017 in Charles City, Iowa.

A memorial service for Phyllis Rague will be held Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Charles City, Iowa with Pastor Jim Beranek officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be one hour prior to the memorial service on Tuesday. Inurnment will be at a later date.

Phyllis Marie Montgomery, the daughter of Lee and Helen (Winfield) Montgomery, was born October 26, 1934 in Carthage, Illinois and moved to Charles City as a teenager where she met her future husband, Don Rague.

Phyllis and Don married on November 7, 1954 in Oakwood, Iowa. They started their family in Greene and lived for short period of time in Powersville and Cowell and then finally made their home in Charles City in 1980.

Phyllis served the community for many decades with nearly 30 years at Chautauqua Guest Homes / Riverside Assisted Living, in retirement working as a foster grandparent and then volunteering her time with hospice. One of her most proud accomplishments was being named Foster Grandparent of the Month.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Helen Montgomery; her sisters: Joann Townsend and Pat Alberts; and her son, David Rague.

Surviving are her husband, Don Rague; three sons: Rick, Bob and Mark; two daughters: Donna and Jeannie; 11 grandchildren: Jason, Lindsey, Brittany, Ryan, Alyssa, Zachary, Dylan, Cassidy, David, Avery and Alex; and two great-grandchildren: Cash and Carver; along with many nieces and nephews.
