IOWA CITY – A defensive player for the University of Iowa Hawkeyes football team was caught drunk driving this weekend.
According to a report, senior free safety Brandon P. Snyder was reported to police by a concerned citizen (an off-duty dispatcher) Sunday morning as he drove near Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City. Allegedly, he was driving a gray 2017 Dodge Challenger recklessly, prompting the report. Police caught up with him around 3 AM and he was stopped. Snyder allegedly had bloodshot, watery eyes, dilated pupils, eyelid tremors, impaired speech, and smelled of alcohol. Defendant admitted to drinking, was wearing multiple bar wristbands, exhibited measurable impairment on field sobriety tests, and failed a preliminary breath test. Datamaster 0.163% BrAC.
As a result of the investigation, Snyder was charged with first-offense operating while under the influence and taken to jail.
