Homeless shoplifter caught fleeing Menards

MASON CITY – A convicted meth criminal known for making death threats was caught fleeing the Menards store in Mason City Friday.

Local law enforcement converged on the Menards store, 540 Village Green Drive in Mason City, around 8 PM Friday, November 17. They were able to help capture an alleged shoplifter who was fleeing the store. The culprit was found to be 28-year-old Andrew Dean Williams, listed as living in a homeless shelter in Mason City. He was arrested and charged with fifth-degree theft and then to jail, where he remains Saturday on bond.

Williams is a convicted meth criminal who is set to plead guilty to another theft crime he committed on August 28 in Mason City. He was recently jailed in Hardin county for drug crimes he committed in that county. Williams is also admitting guilt in a case in which he visited a local business and dropped a death threat while he destroyed property. He awaits a hearing in that case.
