North Iowa Symphony Orchestra to Present Fall Concert

MASON CITY – The North Iowa Symphony Orchestra (NISO) presents “A Fanfare for a New Beginning” on Tuesday, November 28 at 7:30pm at the North Iowa Community Auditorium. This concert will be under the direction of the symphony’s new director, Richard Chitty. Chitty joins the NIACC faculty after many years of participation in the rich musical heritage of North Iowa as singer, player, and conductor.

The Symphony will feature Copland’s “Fanfare for the Common Man”, which is a favorite for brass and percussion and a staple in the symphonic repertoire. In addition, Copland’s “An Outdoor Overture” will feature the full orchestra. The strings will perform a Mozart Symphony as well as the popular theme from “Game of Thrones” augmented by some scary percussion.

Mozart’s beloved “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik” will be heard and “Highlights from Wicked” will finish the concert. The concert will begin with the audience joining in the singing of our national anthem.

The Symphony and its new conductor will have something for all musical tastes and invite you to join the NISO for a new beginning for this jewel in the musical crown of North Iowa.
