STATEMENT FROM MATT MARQUARDT, CANDIDATE FOR MASON CITY CITY COUNCIL:
We are now going to begin IN EARNEST the next phase of this campaign for City Council culminating in the DECEMBER 5 ELECTION. We were a very strong 2nd place on November 7 despite the “YES” wave with their richly-funded campaign and many other obstacles and tricks thrown in our way. Remember, the newspaper reported my name as “BEUHNER” and then “WRONG NAME” for a so-called “correction”. Other below-the-belt actions were taken that I won’t discuss at this time. Now, I have learned that TWO MORE VOTES were added to our total since election night, bringing us to 466 instead of 464. We need to stand up and root out the corruption and downright malfeasance in Mason City’s City Hall. My opponent is a career politician who has been running for office since at least 1993. This is your chance for a new direction with STRONG LEADERSHIP – I WILL stand up for all citizens and protect the taxpayers. As promised, I WILL SUPPORT THE RENAISSANCE PROJECT as the voters approved it – BUT – once elected, I will safeguard you and help guide the project as best I can – working with city staff, the mayor and fellow council members – toward a successful implementation. There are many other pressing issues in Mason City beyond the “Renaissance”. Remember that next time you drive over a broken street, or your house is vandalized or stolen from, or your council member ignores you or puts us in line for another lawsuit.

Last time I attended a city council meeting in Manly to hash out a $100.000 purchase of an excavator we were told the council had already bought weeks before – the male council members were so slumped in their chairs I would suggest the city purchase lounge chairs – Said machine preformed I job for the councils friend to save him thousands of dollars – only city employee who was qualified to operate gold plated machine quit and we have no other excuse to have it – like the mall – follow the money and see who benefits – All a BS deal = pay to play democrap style.

what did john do for the 4th ward the last times he was a council person, I can answer that, NOTHING. time for new blood and new ideas.
He slept through most of the meetings and didn’t understand what was going on in the others. Nothing but a automatic yes vote for the mayor and establishment.

Although I have my disputes with Matt’s editing style, I think it would be better to give him a chance versus an artifact from MC’s archives resurrecting himself as Jaseswki is doing. Let’s see what happens. It’s time to give that guy in Clear Lake a chance too.

You can’t spell or even get the Matt’s name right. What kind of business owner are you? MATT is his name. And he has been an incredible watchdog who helped a lot of people.
I do not live in the forth ward but if I did I would definitely be voting for Matt. I encourage anyone living in the forth ward to go vote on December 5th. Vote for change, vote for the betterment of our city, Vote for Matt Marquardt.
