MASON CITY – A Mason City man who was caught drunk driving and accused by police of being in possession of an illegal drug pled guilty and got half his fine waived.
Dakota Michael Scott, age 18, was caught drunk driving on the evening of July 6, 2017 by a Cerro Gordo county deputy. He was jailed on charges of first-offense operating while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance – marijuana.
Later, Scott pled guilty to just first-offense operating while intoxicated. He was ordered to pay $953.75 in fines and court fees – $625.00 in fines were waived in the deal.
Scott is serving a two-day jail sentence now.
This spring and summer, Scott has been accused of speeding (guilty), failure to stop in an assured clear distance (guilty), and failure to have insurance (guilty).
