GRINNELL – The NIACC men’s cross country team placed fourth at the Grinnell College Les Duke Invitational on Saturday with 117 points.
Wartburg College was the men’s team champion with 40 points and host Grinnell was second with 101 points. Hawkeye CC was sixth with 170 points and Indian Hills was seventh with 189 points.
NIACC was led by freshman Brian Jacques, who was 11th in 25 minutes, 59 seconds on the 8-kilometer course. Next in line for the Trojans was sophomore Blake Keller, who was 17th in 26:16.
The individual champion was the University of Dubuque’s Alec Bass, a senior, who won in 24:55.
The other three NIACC counting scores were John Kraft (25th, 26:48), Samuel Dean (38th, 27:22) and David Carter (47th, 27:54).
Also for NIACC, Logan Dalbeck was 74th in 28:54, Daniel Hennigar (85th, 29:10), Tyler Crawford (91st, 29:17), Grant Dieken (98th, 29:31), Tyson Stromer (104th, 29:43) and Hunter Filloon (111th, 30:15),
NIACC returns to action Sept. 23 at the University of Minnesota Roy Griak Invitational in St. Paul, Minn.
