Garner teen hurt and hospitalized after single vehicle rollover Thursday night

RURAL CERRO GORDO COUNTY, IOWA – A Garner teen was taken by ambulance to the hospital after a single vehicle rollover Thursday night in rural Cerro Gordo county.

On August 17, 2017, 10:30 PM, the Cerro Gordo County Sheriffs Office responded to Apple Avenue and 170th Street for a single vehicle rollover. The driver, 16-year-old Austin Lee Bahensky of Garner, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban Westbound on 170th Street when he lost control of the SUV. The SUV entered the South ditch and rolled into the field. A passenger, 14-year-old Micheala Le Burke of Garner, sustained minor injuries in the collision and was transported by Garner ambulance to Mercy Medical Center North Iowa.

Bahensky and two other occupants were uninjured. Bahensky was cited for fail to maintain control of motor vehicle.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by Garner Fire, Garner Ambulance, and Ventura Fire.
