Iowa State 16th nationally in men’s basketball attendance

AMES – The Iowa State men’s basketball team again finished among the nation’s top teams in average attendance. ISU was 16th nationally among Division I men’s basketball programs in 2016-17.

The Cyclones, who ranked among the nation’s top-30 for the eighth consecutive season, averaged 14,275 fans per home game, a slight increase from the previous season (14,270). ISU filled Hilton Coliseum at 99.2 percent capacity over the course of the season.

The 2016-17 season marked the sixth time in school history and the fourth time in as many seasons that ISU has averaged more than 14,000 fans per game.

The Cyclones were second among Big 12 schools in average home attendance. In all games, Iowa State played in front of 443,105 fans.

Iowa State is 72-8 at home the last five seasons, with 59 sellouts in that stretch.

The Big 12 Conference Championship in Kansas City, Mo., which Iowa State won for the third time in four years, led all Division I conferences with an average of 18,972 fans per session.
